Habs find the holes

This was a really tight game that came down to a couple bad goals. After San Jose took the lead 1-0 Lappiere was sent in all alone on a breakaway and didn't fail. He deked out Nabakov and was able to sqeeze it past him. The Hab's next goal came off a deflection off the Shark's D-man leg. The shot was originally going low, but was deflected over the shoulder and off the crossbar and in. Then with Nabakov rattled, moments later Higgins was able to put a soft wrister by Nabakov. Price stood his ground and the Habs went on to the win.

Tight battle goes to shootout

This had to be one of the closest games ever played on GUGHL!! The action was fast paced and both teams had plenty of chances to win it, but failed each time. Both goalies were spectacular! In the end it came down to the shootout where Kovalev and Plekanec both scored to win the game.

Great games as usual Tiger!

Montreal 1 @ Pittsburg 2

In their first game against the Habs, the Penguins were lucky to have Fleury. He was able to stop 33 shots and only let the Habs score once. This was a tough night for him and Fleury saw a lot of action as the Canadiens attack kept knocking on the door. His performance led the Penguins in a shoot out were he stopped everything thrown at him. Staal scored with a nearly perfect shot in the right corner, making the Penguins win their first game of the season.

Buffalo Extracts some Revenge
In another tight battle, the two rival coaches went hard at each other. This time the rivals were able to score more often as the game went back and forth. After a couple of close calls for both teams late in the third, the teams went into Overtime where both goalies stood tall until Jochen Hecht picked up a lose puck and was able to walk in and wrist a shot past Price.

Habs hold them off

After coming off a shootout lose, the Habs were looking to get revenge on the score sheet. However, Fluery proved once again why he is one of the best young goalies in the league. Fluery turned back dozens of the Hab's shots. The Habs were able to put the pressure on and it finally paid off early in the 2nd when A. Kostitsyn was left alone in front for the deke. However, minutes later Jordon Staal was able to throw one topself to tie it up. But halfway threw the 3rd the Habs were finally able to get another one when Tanguay jumped on a loose puck to take the lead. The Pens battled back and kept the puck in the Habs zone for almost the rest of the game, but Price stood his ground for the win.

The Habs start season in fashion

With Coach Critter finally getting hired by his boyhood favorite team, he wasn't going to let them down! Coach Critter's "Lidstom" strategy worked to perfection, as he took away the shot and took the puck, not the body. The Habs were able to jump on their opportunities mistakes and take the shutout win.
